Replacement Vehicular Entrance System for Musgrave

Musgrave Retail Partners NI one of Irelands leading retailers whose brands include Centra, Mace and Supervalue to name a few. Musgrave have a large distribution warehouse in the docks in Belfast. A high volume of goods vehicles from HGV’s to transits deliver and dispatched goods from this site all year round. 

The entrance to the warehouse had an existing traffic management system which was giving the client a number of problems these included:

• The existing traffic barriers were constantly being hit and damaged by good vehicles entering and exiting the site.

•  The security staff had no means of visibly checking the drivers of the vehicles from the security hut.

•  The existing intercom system was producing poor sound quality due to interference, as well as the intercom call stations and handset being damaged by extremely high usage. 

                                                                  Before Integrated Traffic Management System:

Breezemount were employed by Musgrave retail partners to come up with a solution to the problem.

Breezemount supplied and installed a completely new traffic management solution which eradicated all the problems the client was experiencing.

After Integrated Traffic Management System:

The new system included: 

• Two heavy duty Automatic Systems BL46 Traffic Barriers complete with LED Lights, full height folding fences and safety induction loops. The LED lights and fully height folding fence make the barriers more visible to the drivers of every size of vehicle.

An LED traffic light system at each barrier to indicate when the barrier is in the fully up position so the vehicle can proceed through the barrier.

• The existing intercom system was replaced with four heavy duty stainless steel intercom stations, mounted on dual height intercom posts, this allows drivers in all types of vehicle to reach the intercom when entering and exiting the site.

• 4 no CCTV camera complete with Infra Red illumination to provide the best possible images of the drivers day and night. These were mounted on the entrance and exit intercom posts above each of the intercoms. A 16way 750Gb Dedicated Micros Digital Video Recorder was installed to facilitate the recording of the new cameras and to allow for future expansion.

• A bespoke custom built control console was installed in the security hut.
This station allows the security guards to have complete control of the system without having to leave the security hut. The bespoke custom console includes a custom built speech unit to speak to each intercom point. When an intercom is pressed outside the security guard can speak to an view the individual on the 15” LCD monitor installed in the console. Once the person at the intercom is verified the guard can open the barrier. All the buttons are individually lit to allow the guard to use the system in complete darkness if required.

• The existing gate automation system was also connected to operate from the bespoke control console, giving the guard complete control over the entire site entrance.
