Knowledge Transfer Partnership Awards Night
Breezemount’s Clive Gallagher and Catherine Kelly celebrated the successful completion of our first Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) at the Awards Ceremony in Queen’s University’s Whitla Hall on Thursday 18th November. The KTP was developed as a partnership between Belfast Metropolitan College (BMC) and Breezemount Electrical and Hydraulics Ltd. The project has enabled us to tap into the expertise available from the BMC so as we could improve our competitiveness and ensure future growth. The project focused upon delivering and implementing a marketing plan which has allowed us to professionally produce a defined strategy for the promotion of our products and services.
Queen’s Pro-Vice Chancellor for Research and Postgraduates Professor James McElnay commented on the success of the all KTP schemes throughout Northern Ireland, “Knowledge Transfer Partnerships bring together the key elements which underpin research and development and lead to economic prosperity….By merging innovative and entrepreneurial businesses with the expertise and skills within higher and further education, KTP is proving to be a driving force in local wealth and job creation.”
Breezemount’s KTP associate, Catherine Kelly comments:

“From the KTP associate perspective, I have received an invaluable network of academic support and expertise from the college. I have also strengthened my skill set by gaining qualifications in CMI management and CIM marketing, which I have applied to the KTP marketing project. The project involved identifying, expanding and promoting our product portfolio and has ultimately led to exploring new commercial opportunities for Breezemount. Fortunately for me, Breezemount has agreed to continue my employment after the 18 month KTP has ended. Together with another KTP project and a strategically driven export plan in place, I am looking forward to sustaining Breezemounts success in the New Year.”
The KTP project was part-funded by Invest Northern Ireland and the Technology Strategy Board.
